Ève Gascon is a very promising goaltender who has been breaking the glass ceiling in the field hockey world since she was very young. Having always played with the guys throughout her minor field hockey, it is in the Midget AAA (now M18AAA) that she really starts to turn heads. Indeed, against all odds (except her own), she obtained a position with the Collège Esther-Blondin Phénix as early as her 15 year old season in 2018-2019. She thus became the first woman in history to obtain a full-time position with a league team.
After two satisfying seasons (2018-2019 and 2019-2020) at this level, she heads to the men's college ranks with the Cégep St-Laurent Patriotes after not being selected in the QMJHL draft. During this season where no games are played because of the pandemic, she signs a commitment with the powerful women's team of the University of Minnesota Duluth effective from 2023-2024. This university had previously welcomed the prolific Canadian player Caroline Ouellette.
The following season, while everyone thought she would continue in the college ranks, she received an invitation to the camp of the Gatineau Olympiques where she had the opportunity to play a few pre-season games. An experience that finally allowed her to be assigned as the team's third goalie while she continued her studies at Cégep St-Laurent. She was the first woman since Charline Labonté in 2000-2001 to play with a QMJHL team.
As if that wasn't impressive enough, in addition to being a great role model for young hockey players, Ève Gascon is also known for her great generosity off the ice. At the end of her shortened season in 2019-2020, she went to lend a hand in the CHSLDs to help with the COVID-19 fight.
