Paul Byron is a former left winger in the National Hockey League (NHL) from Ottawa. He made his NHL debut with the Calgary Flames in 2012, before being acquired by the Montreal Canadiens in 2016.
In his first season with the Canadiens, he recorded 11 points and was awarded the Jacques-Beauchamp Trophy, given to the player who played a key role in the team's success. The following year, he doubled his production with 22 points, earning the trophy for the second consecutive year in 2016-2017.
He was named assistant captain to Canadiens’ captain Shea Weber at the start of the 2018-19 season and held that role until his final season in 2021-2022.
